Respirable Crystalline Silica Awareness Course

Michelle McIntyre, MPH, CIH, CSP Director of Environmental Health and Safety for GFA International, will be discussing a new OSHA regulation on respirable crystalline silica, a current hot button topic in our industry that all employees involved in tasks that produce silica should receive training on before they are assigned to work. The 1 hour course will come with a certificate. The topics she will cover are identifying products, materials and tasks that can create silica hazards, how the employer can control the dust, health risks involved with inhaling silica, the purpose of medical surveillance, proper personal protective equipment and appropriate hygiene practices, key provisions of the OSHA regulation on respirable crystalline silica, and the requirements of the competent person designated by the employer to implement the silica control plan and inspect the job site, materials and equipment.

Ms. McIntyre has Over 20 years of experience in technical and regulatory aspects of environmental and public health, industrial hygiene, and health and safety. She also holds many health and safety related certificates and licenses.
